If there is one time of year when Cusco fully showcases the richness of its history, culture, and traditions, it is June.

Known as Cusco’s Jubilee Month, June brings together some of the most important celebrations of Peru’s Andean and religious calendar. For several weeks, the city comes alive with music, dances, processions, parades, ancestral ceremonies, and cultural events that attract visitors from around the world.

If you are planning to visit Cusco during this season, here are some of the most important events of the 2026 festive calendar to help you plan your trip and make the most of one of the most exciting times of the year.

June 3–4: Corpus Christi and the Chiriuchu Festival

One of the most important religious celebrations in Cusco is Corpus Christi.

On June 3, the traditional procession of saints’ and virgins’ images makes its way to Cusco Cathedral. The following day, these sacred images are carried around the Plaza de Armas in one of the city’s most iconic religious processions.

At the same time, the Chiriuchu Festival takes place. Chiriuchu is considered the signature dish of Cusco’s festivities. This traditional meal combines ingredients from Peru’s coast, highlands, and jungle into a single dish, making it a must-try culinary experience for visitors.

June 11–14: Renewal of the Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge

Just a few hours from the city, the annual reconstruction of the Q’eswachaka suspension bridge offers a unique opportunity to witness a living tradition recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Each year, local communities from the province of Canas work together to rebuild this bridge entirely by hand using natural grass fibers, preserving an ancestral practice that dates back to Inca times.

June 17: Traditional School Dance Parades

The celebrations continue with one of the most colorful events of the month.

Hundreds of students from schools across the region fill the streets and Plaza de Armas, performing traditional dances that represent the different provinces of Cusco and offering visitors an authentic glimpse into local folklore.

June 18: Inti Yupaychay Ceremony

The eve of the main celebrations includes the Inti Yupaychay ceremony, an offering to the Sun held at the esplanade of Qorikancha.

This event provides a meaningful introduction to the Andean worldview and helps visitors better understand the cultural significance of Inti Raymi for the local population.

June 19: Night of Lights and Drone Show

One of the most anticipated events of the 2026 program is the Night of Lights and Sound.

This year’s celebration will feature a drone light show illuminating the Cusco sky with figures inspired by Andean culture, accompanied by artistic performances and cultural activities throughout the historic center.

June 20: Allegory Parade

Creativity and artistic expression take center stage during the Allegory Parade organized by the Diego Quispe Tito National University of Arts.

Floats, artistic performances, and cultural displays parade through the streets of the historic center in one of the most photogenic events of the month.

June 21: Business Parade and Regional Festivals

The Business Parade brings together local institutions and companies in a festive procession that forms part of Cusco’s jubilee celebrations.

On the same day, cultural events take place across the region, including the renowned Raqchi International Folklore Festival.

June 22: Parade of the 13 Provinces and Air Show

Delegations from Cusco’s thirteen provinces gather for a major cultural parade showcasing the region’s diverse traditions, dances, and artistic expressions.

The day also includes an aerial exhibition by the Peruvian Air Force over the city.

June 23: Grand Civic Parade

The day before Inti Raymi is marked by one of the most traditional events of Cusco’s festivities.

Public institutions, local organizations, and authorities participate in the Grand Civic Parade through the historic center.

June 24: Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun

The highlight of the festive calendar takes place on June 24.

The Inti Raymi reenactment begins at Qorikancha, continues through the Plaza de Armas, and concludes with the main ceremony at the Sacsayhuamán esplanade.

Every year, thousands of national and international visitors gather to witness this spectacular representation inspired by the ancient Inca celebration dedicated to the Sun God, making it one of South America’s most important cultural events.

Where to Stay During Cusco’s Jubilee Month

June is one of the busiest times of the year in Cusco, making the choice of accommodation especially important.

At Atoq San Blas, we believe that discovering Cusco should also include moments of rest and tranquility. That is why we have created a welcoming space in the heart of the San Blas neighborhood, allowing guests to explore much of the historic center on foot and return to a peaceful and comfortable setting at the end of the day.
